Florence District Five primarily serves the community of Johnsonville, a small town with just under 1,418 citizens within the city limits. The city is also home to a variety of businesses, churches, restaurants, and health care facilities. Other highlights include
volunteer fire and rescue squads and a year-round recreational program funded through local and county agencies. Wellman Country Club also offers golf and tennis to its members. The community also has a public library with plans for the construction of a new modern facility underway.
Johnsonville is centrally located between the Grand Strand and Florence, allowing for convenient access to many types of recreational and educational facilities including Francis Marion University, Coastal Carolina University, Florence-Darlington Technical College, Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Williamsburg Technical College.
As with many small-town communities, the identity of Johnsonville is closely related to the wide and varied accomplishments of its three schools, Johnsonville High School, Johnsonville Middle School and Johnsonville Elementary. The schools serve 1500 students. Please visit the websites of each school to find more information about the many programs we offer students in Florence School District Five.
